Carleton Place Offers a Small-town Lifestyle, Surrounded by Nature

One of the reasons that Carleton Place continues to grow is that the town is encircled by a stunning natural environment including the Mississippi river. One of the many facilities to enjoy the great outdoors is The Carleton Place Canoe Club located at Riverside Park on the Mississippi River. The Club is very proud that it is Canada’s oldest continually operating Canoe Club. In addition to enjoying the many water sports and beaches in Carleton Place there are many walking trails, including the Trans Canada Trail that runs through town, and parks such as; the Mississippi River Walk Trail, the Ottawa Valley Rail Trail, Centennial Park, Memorial Park and Roy Brown Park which has a fenced off leash dog park. Also nearby is Mississippi Lake which has 55.9km of shoreline, great fishing for Walleye, Bluegills, Northern Pike, small and Large-mouth Bass, there is a public boat launch in Carleton Place at the end of Lake Avenue West.

Carleton Place is a Sports Hub of Activity!

The Carleton Place Arena is located at 75 Neelin Street and is the home to the Carleton Place Kings (Minor Hockey), Carleton Place Cyclones (Girls Hockey), and the Carleton Place Skating Club. The town also loves to cheer on the Carleton Place Canadians Junior A hockey club. The Arena also has a double ice surface which is used for ball hockey, roller blade hockey, indoor soccer and other activities. The Carleton Place Curling Club is very active and always welcomes new members. Carleton Place is a cycling friendly town and they are actively improving cycling safety. Carleton Place has excellent shopping, both downtown and near Highway 7. Within a few blocks there is an incredible range of goods and services catering to every taste and price range. These include beautiful boutique shops, quilting, gifts, florists, gourmet foods and natural pet foods. Some of the favourite stores downtown are; The Floral Boutique, Treasures N More, Et Cetera Home and Burns Jewellers. The Carleton Place Farmers Market is located on Beckwith Street, just steps from the downtown, there are several parking lots in the downtown, with free parking. Just a short drive to Highway 7 there are all the major large retailers. These include; the Carleton Place Walmart Supercentre, Canadian Tire, Grocery Stores, LCBO, Beer Store, Rona, Home Depot and Starbucks. The town is very well served with the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital and two walk-In clinics. All ages are looked after with services that span clubs, associations, excellent child day care. The Carleton Place & District Youth Centre offers programs, event and services that provide youth in the Carleton Place community "with social, educational, recreational and developmental opportunities, enhancing the well being of youth and our community." There is also The Seniors' Services Carleton Place, which provides services for seniors and older adults and is located in the original renovated train station.
